Whissin
Non-Alcoholic Spirits
Whissin is a Spanish alcohol-free whisky alternative produced by Industrias Espadafor, the Granada beverage house founded in 1939. Billed as the first alcohol-free whisky-flavoured drink on the market, it is made from the same barley, maize and wheat base as whisky but macerated rather than fermented, giving the colour, aroma and warm sweetness of a classic distillate at 0.0% alcohol. It won Best Spanish Product and Best Alcohol-Free Product at the SIAL trade fair in its launch year and is still a fixture in Spanish bars and cafes. Gluten free, sold in a 70cl bottle to be diluted one part to three.
