Brewed coffee forms the base, cocoa powder adds body and a little bitterness, lemon juice cuts across both, and a whisper of fennel sits underneath doing something faintly herbal. Cane sugar does the sweetening and nothing artificial goes in. Mockly builds these in New Orleans and treats them as cocktails rather than health drinks, which is how the flavours end up this strange. Serve it up in a chilled martini glass with a twist of lemon peel, which is genuinely the right call, since the aroma off the peel completes the drink. A shot and a half of vodka turns it into an espresso martini variant if you want that.
