Cairn o' Mohr's sparkling elderflower has been picking up Great Taste Awards almost every year since 2007, an unusually long run for any drink, and the elderberry version only exists because this one worked. Delicate is the right word, light and floral and genuinely refreshing rather than sweet, in a 75cl bottle at 0 percent under the Braes o' Gowrie label. The winery sits in the Carse of Gowrie in Perthshire and sources its fruit and flowers locally, which is the founding premise of the place. Serve it chilled, in the winery's own phrasing, with warm company. It stands in for prosecco at a table because of the format and the dryness, though it is a sparkling soft drink rather than a dealcoholized wine.
