Pink Gin and Tonic

Everything that makes Clever's standard gin and tonic work carries over here. The distilled infusion of juniper berries, green cardamom and coriander seeds is the same, the touch of quinine for bitterness is the same, and blackcurrant sits on top of it. The fruit is a hint rather than a flood, so the can stays dry and herbal with a berry edge instead of collapsing into soda. Clever is a Canadian outfit that distills its own botanical bases, which explains why this reads leaner than the syrup forward mocktails beside it. Format is 355ml cans, twelve to a case, at less than 0.5% alcohol by volume. It is a warm weather drink, best very cold over plenty of ice with a lemon or lime wedge. It earned a Silver tasting medal at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
