Of the four Seedlip bottles, this is the one aimed squarely at agave drinks. Notas de Agave is built on agave and prickly pear with lime for acid, then vanilla pods, peppercorn and damiana flower filling in behind. Damiana is the interesting inclusion, a shrub native to Mexico with a long history in herbal preparations, and it gives the blend a floral, slightly resinous weight that plain agave flavoring wouldn't carry on its own. Like the rest of the range it has no sugar and no calories, and a 700ml bottle stretches to about 12 to 14 drinks. It isn't a tequila copy, and it doesn't chase smoke or the burn of a real spirit, so treat it as a base rather than a swap. Lime, a little agave syrup and a salted rim makes a workable margarita. Long with grapefruit soda and it becomes a decent paloma.
