Most alcohol-free reds fall apart on structure, so it's worth noting where this one holds together. Vintense builds its Cépage range around single grape varieties, and the Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced in Spain. It pours medium garnet and opens on yeast, black cherry and blackcurrant. The attack is supple, tannins develop through the middle against a controlled sweetness, and blackcurrant returns on a finish with light tannic grip. The Belgian house offers it as a stand-in for a full-bodied red, which is fair given how it behaves next to food. Serve it at 16 to 18 degrees with charcuterie, barbecue or red meat. Vintense removes the alcohol entirely rather than settling for 0.5%, and the wine is vegan, gluten free and suitable during pregnancy, at roughly 18 calories per 100ml.
