Dry is the word that matters here. Most alcohol free reds fall apart by leaning sweet, and Vignette goes the other way, finishing long and properly dry with dark plum and damson up front and notes of spice and forest floor behind. The base is Tempranillo from La Mancha, fermented as a real wine and then de-alcoholised, with grape must and a little ginger juice blended back in to restore weight. Wednesday's Domaine built this one for the table rather than for solo sipping, and it holds up against roast meat, tomato based pasta and hard cheese the way a light red should. A 750 ml bottle carries about 115 calories and 29 g of sugar. Vegan, contains sulphites. Serve it slightly cool, around cellar temperature, since there is no alcohol to carry the aromatics at room temperature.
