Sparkling red is a category almost nobody attempts, and attempting it without alcohol is stranger still. Jukes 6 gets there by infusing blackberry, blackcurrant, raspberry, strawberry and plum into organic apple cider vinegar, then carbonating the result into a 250ml can. Black fruit sits up front, but the drink turns earthy and spicy through the middle and finishes mellow, long and savoury. That savoury tail is the part that makes it read as a wine substitute rather than a berry soda. It also means the can can sit next to real food. Roast meat, mushrooms, hard cheese and tomato-heavy dishes all work. Per 100ml it runs about 22 calories and 3.4 grams of sugar. Chill it properly and pour it over ice into a wine glass. Store the cans somewhere cool and get them into the fridge well before you plan to open one.
