Sparkling Sansgria

Sangria without the wine is usually just fruit punch. This one starts from de-alcoholised Shiraz, which is why it has actual grip under the fruit. Native Australian riberry adds a clove-like spice note, lively citrus keeps it from sitting heavy, and vanilla rounds off the finish. Altina makes it by removing the alcohol from Australian wine and blending in botanicals, landing under 0.02% alcohol at roughly 20 calories per 150ml serve, the leanest of their sparkling bottles. It is a food drink first. The brand points it at tapas, croquettes, olives, calamari and Manchego, and it holds up next to chargrilled vegetables or a barbecued steak, which is more than most alcohol free reds can manage. Serve it cold over ice with citrus wheels if you want the full sangria treatment.
