Plenty of real rosé is blended from more than one grape, and this follows the same logic. Altina builds it from de-alcoholised Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz, then folds in Kakadu plum, a native fruit from Australia's tropical north. No added sugar, which has been the house rule since Christina Delay founded the company in 2018 after changing her own relationship with alcohol and finding the alternatives thin. The nose is just-ripe strawberry with a soft pink rose note behind it. The finish is crisp and properly dry, with a whisper of spice rather than the candied sweetness that sinks a lot of alcohol-free rosé. Figure 23 calories and under 0.1g of sugar per 150ml, at less than 0.02% ABV. This is warm-afternoon drinking. Pour it very cold alongside salads, light pasta and rice dishes, or goat cheese. It also does well with seafood, particularly grilled fish, scallops and prawns.
