Bobal is an unfashionable Spanish grape that makes very good rosé, and ZENO uses it here rather than reaching for the Provence template. The colour is bright rose-pink and the nose leans toward red summer fruit and peach. On the palate it is crunchy redcurrant and wild raspberry with white stone fruit behind, held together by vibrant acidity and a subtle herbaceous edge that keeps it dry. The finish is longer and more textured than most alcohol free pinks manage, which comes down to the low temperature vacuum distillation ZENO uses to take the alcohol out without cooking the wine. Alcohol measures 0.23 percent and a 175 ml glass is roughly 15.5 calories. It works with shellfish, salads, spicy dishes and pink lamb off the barbecue, and it will handle a dessert course better than a white would.
