The certified-organic take on Frühlingsduft leans on the same late-ripening seedling apple, a variety with enough natural acid to hold up under a lot of fruit. Strawberry and blueberry juice go in on top, along with woodruff and elderflower. Elderflower is the note that lingers. It sits over the strawberry rather than under it, and the apple acidity keeps everything from collapsing into jam. The result reads slim rather than heavy, floral through the finish, and about 43 calories per 100ml. Everything carries EU organic certification under DE-ÖKO-006 and the bottle is vegan. Apple juice makes up 70 percent, grown on the Swabian standard orchards Manufaktur Jörg Geiger has sourced from for two decades. Drink it at 8 to 10°C on its own as an apéritif, next to a bowl of fresh strawberries, or alongside anything with rhubarb in it.
