The Italian style is what Brown Brothers went after here, and the distinction matters. Pinot Grigio is crisp, fresh and savoury where the French Pinot Gris style sits richer on the palate, and this dealcoholised version stays firmly on the leaner side. It pours pale straw with a youthful green hue, the nose is full of crisp pear and peach, and the palate turns savoury before a tight finish. Alcohol comes out by spinning cone distillation, which strips it at low temperature instead of boiling off the aromatics, leaving the wine under 0.5%. This was the Victorian winery's first release of the wine, and it's built to be drunk young and cold rather than kept. Their own pairings run Italian: garlic and olive oil spaghetti with artichoke, olives and goats cheese, or an antipasto platter.
