Verdejo came out of central Spain and has spread across the country on the strength of its aromatics, which run to fennel and grapefruit. Edenvale blends it with Sauvignon Blanc for extra richness and a tropical lift. The colour is light and bright, the palate fresh and uncomplicated. This one sits in the Expedition Series, the range built on fruit from Spain's acclaimed wine regions rather than Australian vineyards, and like everything Edenvale makes it is fully fermented before the alcohol is stripped out to below 0.5 percent. That leaves zero standard drinks, roughly what you would find in fruit juice. It is an easy wine to put on a table. Rice dishes, pasta, warm salads, spicy food, fresh cheeses and grilled vegetables all sit comfortably alongside it.
